England in May

Greetings from Arundel. The castle was built as part of the defenses of the southern coast after the Battle of Hastings. We took the train from Haywards Heath to Arundel. We walked from the train station to town. The first picture is the view of the castle as we approached. The second is one of the gates to the castle. The family is still in residence but you can tour the library, guest bedrooms, the keep, gardens, etc. In the main rooms you can see an amazing collection of medieval weapons. Also paintings and other historic treasures. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed for 4 days in December and many of the furnishing custom built for their visit are still in the suite. We had tea at Belinda's 16th Century Tea Rooms near the castle. The Cream Tea was delicious: tea with milk and two scones with cream and strawberry jam.
