Trip to England: Part II, The Photos

Finally had a chance to post all the photos from my trip to visit Chris in England last spring. We did so many things, from tea at Belinda's to tea at the Winter Garden. Click here to see the rest of the photos.

England in May

Greetings from Arundel. The castle was built as part of the defenses of the southern coast after the Battle of Hastings. We took the train from Haywards Heath to Arundel. We walked from the train station to town. The first picture is the view of the castle as we approached. The second is one of the gates to the castle. The family is still in residence but you can tour the library, guest bedrooms, the keep, gardens, etc. In the main rooms you can see an amazing collection of medieval weapons. Also paintings and other historic treasures. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed for 4 days in December and many of the furnishing custom built for their visit are still in the suite. We had tea at Belinda's 16th Century Tea Rooms near the castle. The Cream Tea was delicious: tea with milk and two scones with cream and strawberry jam.

Hailey got a bath today. She looks so cute!!!

Another week has gone by. I started the baby sweater. Since I am using Lion Brand Pound of Love green and size 8 needles it may be closer to toddler size than baby size. Martha in LA called to say how much she liked the yellow diagonal blanket.

Knits fit for babies!

I have finished two baby blankets both in yellow Lion Brand Pound of Love. The first one is the pattern on the back of the label. It took about 12 1/2 ounces of the yarn. Since I had a little yarn left, I started the bias dish/cloth baby blanket pattern Carol Duval demonstrated on her craft show. I used size 10 needles. When there were 135 stitched on the row, I started the decrease. It is about 28 inches square and took about 8 ounces of yarn. Both blankets are destined for coworkers. Melissa lives here in Carson City so the baby afghan will be extra warm. Martha lives in LA so the single strand will be better suited to the weather.

My next project is a pair of booties in organic cotton by Bernat.

We will get the hang of this!

Last night I got ready to add a new post and noticed that some of my links weren't working correctly so I fixed them. It was so much fun that when I finished I turned the computer off. Maybe today will be better. We are having interesting weather. More rain than snow in the mix. The fog or is it a cloud is all the way down to the valley floor.

Hi, I am finally here!

Kim is going back to London tomorrow by way of New Orleans. We have sure enjoyed her short visit. Sunday we had the brunch at John Asquaga's Nugget in Sparks. Monday it was City Cafe Bakery for muffins, coffee, and visiting with friends. Lunch was at Khristopher's Cafe on Topsy Lane. Delicious as always. We ordered a Capital Pizza from the Pizza Factory. The pizza was great. Tuesday -- back to City Cafe Bakery for more muffins, coffee, and chat with friends. We went to Reno for the day. Had soup and sandwiches at Süp. We have to go back and soon!
